How it Works...

  • Our program is an elective program and enrollment is for the entire school
    year.
  • Parents can look at class descriptions to determine which classes fit their
    family's needs.
  • Our classes for 4th grade and up are designed to steer your home studies.
  • Homework, when assigned, is mandatory.
  • Grades will be tracked by teachers in all core junior high and high school
    classes.
  • Parents are still responsible for their student’s education.
  • Families must abide by school's Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Our Teachers are not necessarily parents of students in our program
(though we do have a few!). We work to bring in the most highly effective
and qualified teachers we can find.
  • We cannot give refunds for those who may pull out mid-year and
    registration fees are non-refundable.

Registration Process...

  • Please feel free to contact us with questions and be sure to inquire on
    class availability.
  • We then ask that you prayerfully consider if HSU is right for your family.
  • Once you have decided that HSU might be a good fit for your family,
    please submit the following forms:
  • Registration (appropriate to your child's grade)
  • HSU will then contact you regarding arranging a "New Family Interview".
  • Upon acceptance we will need the following forms completed:
  • Your student schedule can be finalized at the Mandatory Parent
    Orientation Meeting.
  • You will then receive an invoice for classes and fees.
  • If a class that you registered for is full or low-enrollment, you will be
notified. Minimum of 8-10 students needed per class. Teacher and HSU
reserves right to cancel class due to low enrollment.
  • We cannot hold a space for your child in any class until we receive
    your registration fee.
  • The above forms may be mailed to the address on the registration forms,
turned in at the HSU Information Table in the lobby of Community
Fellowship on school days or turned in at one of the mandatory Parent
Orientation Meetings Thursday, August 14th & Tuesday, August 26th at
7:00 p.m.

Parents Responsibilities...

  • Ensuring that assigned work is completed on time, following the syllabus in
order to track what is going on in class, and communicating with your
student’s teachers. We cannot overemphasize this!
  • Students are required to perform mandatory set-up and take-down jobs.
  • Parents are required to monitor lunch & study halls & serve on committees.
  • Parents will be required to serve 9 hours each year per enrolled student on
campus, with a maximum of 21 hours per family.
  • We have numerous committees which are parent-run; these will include
fundraising, special events, drama production, yearbook production, etc.
  • Students will have the opportunity to participate on Student-led committees.
  • Attendance at one of the Mandatory Parent Orientation Meeting scheduled
on Thursday, Aug.14th and Tues. Aug. 26th at 7:00 p.m.
  • Two Committee Meetings per year. (1 per semester)
  • New families must attend an informal orientation interview (to be scheduled
    once we receive registration information)
  • HSU will inform you as to whether your family is formally accepted.
